1 引言
2007年我國(guó)教育部頒發(fā)的《聾校義務(wù)教育課程設(shè)置實(shí)驗(yàn)方案》規(guī)定,聾校外語(yǔ)課的課程性質(zhì)為選修課程,開(kāi)課年級(jí)為7年級(jí),鼓勵(lì)學(xué)校根據(jù)實(shí)際情況積極開(kāi)設(shè)外語(yǔ)課。事實(shí)上,教育及經(jīng)濟(jì)較發(fā)達(dá)地區(qū)的很多聾校已經(jīng)嘗試開(kāi)設(shè)英語(yǔ)課,盡管具體開(kāi)課年級(jí)有所不同。但是,聾生聽(tīng)覺(jué)通道受阻的事實(shí),給聾生英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)及聾校英語(yǔ)教學(xué)帶來(lái)很大挑戰(zhàn)。通過(guò)檢索相關(guān)文獻(xiàn),發(fā)現(xiàn)我國(guó)對(duì)聾生英語(yǔ)教學(xué)較為關(guān)注的群體多來(lái)自于九年制特殊教育學(xué)校及高中、高校的聾生英語(yǔ)學(xué)科教師,他們從自身工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)出發(fā),總結(jié)了一些英語(yǔ)詞匯教學(xué)、語(yǔ)法教學(xué)的策略。這些研究成果,客觀反映了我國(guó)聾校英語(yǔ)學(xué)科的教學(xué)現(xiàn)狀,體現(xiàn)了教師的自發(fā)探究,飽含責(zé)任與敬業(yè)精神。但是,其不足也顯而易見(jiàn)。由于缺乏多學(xué)科人員,尤其是語(yǔ)言學(xué)、心理學(xué)及聾教育專家的合作,研究視角比較單一,研究成果的理論性、創(chuàng)新性不足。進(jìn)一步檢索國(guó)外有關(guān)研究,發(fā)現(xiàn)研究成果主要集中在語(yǔ)音編碼與閱讀能力、語(yǔ)音編碼與編碼意識(shí)等領(lǐng)域。研究對(duì)聾生是否存在語(yǔ)音編碼的結(jié)論并不一致,有研究表明聾生存在語(yǔ)音編碼,也有研究表明聾生不存在語(yǔ)音編碼。本研究試圖在借鑒國(guó)內(nèi)外相關(guān)研究成果的基礎(chǔ)上,探討全聾學(xué)生英語(yǔ)詞匯學(xué)習(xí)的有效策略。本研究基于個(gè)案詞匯默寫錯(cuò)誤類型的分析,設(shè)計(jì)并實(shí)施干預(yù)策略,通過(guò)個(gè)案前后成績(jī)的對(duì)比,來(lái)檢測(cè)干預(yù)策略對(duì)全聾學(xué)生詞匯學(xué)習(xí)的效果,進(jìn)而探討全聾學(xué)生是否存在語(yǔ)音編碼或其他語(yǔ)言編碼形式。
2 研究方法
2.1 研究對(duì)象
胡某,女,14歲,九年一貫制聾校6年級(jí)學(xué)生,純音聽(tīng)力檢測(cè)報(bào)告為左耳平均聽(tīng)力超過(guò)110分貝,右耳100分貝。根據(jù)中國(guó)聽(tīng)力殘疾分級(jí)標(biāo)準(zhǔn),該生屬于一級(jí)聽(tīng)力殘疾,程度為極重度。
該生在學(xué)前教育階段接受過(guò)聾教育雙語(yǔ)實(shí)驗(yàn)項(xiàng)目培訓(xùn),有較好的手語(yǔ)溝通水平。經(jīng)過(guò)與其所在班級(jí)班主任老師的交談,了解到該生為住宿生,生活獨(dú)立且有良好學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣,同伴關(guān)系良好,語(yǔ)文、數(shù)學(xué)成績(jī)?cè)诎嗉?jí)均名列前茅。英語(yǔ)成績(jī)中等偏下,盡管學(xué)習(xí)很努力,但效果不佳。
胡某所在聾校自六年級(jí)開(kāi)始開(kāi)設(shè)英語(yǔ)課,選用教材為江蘇譯林版牛津小學(xué)英語(yǔ)三年級(jí)教材,授課教師有英語(yǔ)專業(yè)大專學(xué)歷,但沒(méi)有特殊教育專業(yè)背景。學(xué)校為教師提供過(guò)短期崗前培訓(xùn),教師具備一定的手語(yǔ)溝通能力。根據(jù)英語(yǔ)學(xué)科要求及聾生英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的特點(diǎn),該校英語(yǔ)教研室規(guī)定六年級(jí)英語(yǔ)單詞教學(xué)的目標(biāo)是會(huì)認(rèn)、會(huì)寫,這意味著學(xué)生要掌握全部所學(xué)單詞的字義和字形,既能夠識(shí)別單詞,也能夠默寫單詞。
2.2 研究過(guò)程
2.2.1 評(píng)估
筆者接觸個(gè)案的時(shí)間是六年級(jí)下學(xué)期開(kāi)學(xué)初,上學(xué)期該生英語(yǔ)課一共學(xué)習(xí)了101個(gè)單詞(筆者為了統(tǒng)計(jì)方便,剔除了其中的The Great Wall,以其余100個(gè)單詞為例)。通過(guò)對(duì)個(gè)案英語(yǔ)課堂學(xué)習(xí)的觀察,單元練習(xí)手冊(cè)、試卷、作業(yè)本的分析,以及與授課教師的交談,筆者了解到該生在英語(yǔ)詞匯學(xué)習(xí)中的主要困難表現(xiàn)在單詞默寫方面,常常是記不住,記不牢,再現(xiàn)不準(zhǔn)確,模模糊糊,似是而非。為準(zhǔn)確掌握個(gè)案的單詞學(xué)習(xí)情況,筆者根據(jù)英語(yǔ)學(xué)科對(duì)詞匯學(xué)習(xí)的目標(biāo)要求設(shè)計(jì)了“識(shí)別、默寫”兩種水平的試卷,分四次對(duì)其已學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)的100個(gè)單詞進(jìn)行了隨機(jī)檢測(cè)。個(gè)案在兩種測(cè)試水平的得分分別是97分和68分,這表明她對(duì)學(xué)過(guò)的單詞在識(shí)別水平上掌握很好,但是默寫情況并不理想,只能準(zhǔn)確默寫68個(gè)單詞,不能達(dá)到教學(xué)目標(biāo)的要求。
對(duì)上面表中個(gè)案拼寫錯(cuò)誤的32個(gè)單詞做進(jìn)一步分析,發(fā)現(xiàn)個(gè)案單詞默寫的錯(cuò)誤類型主要是:(1)字母序列問(wèn)題:個(gè)案能夠默寫出構(gòu)成單詞的所有字母,但是字母的排列順序不正確,以一種健聽(tīng)人幾乎無(wú)法理解的錯(cuò)誤序列拼寫出來(lái),如riado、kifine、wthie、firdge。(2)增、減字母問(wèn)題:個(gè)案能夠拼寫出構(gòu)成單詞的大部分字母,但是存在增加或遺漏字母的錯(cuò)誤,如browon、shir、shool bag、T-shir、ice、toy、yello。(3)字母序列和增、減字母錯(cuò)誤的組合:這種拼寫錯(cuò)誤出現(xiàn)次數(shù)最多,如bo,rybook、tiehgr、swenates、shki、jaes、cupmane、mike、danguter等,這些單詞不僅字母的拼寫序列錯(cuò)誤,同時(shí)存在增加或減少字母的情況。(4)詞義干擾問(wèn)題:如個(gè)案把“時(shí)鐘(clock)”拼寫為“時(shí)間(time)”,這種錯(cuò)誤盡管并不多見(jiàn),但依然存在,這與聾生對(duì)抽象詞匯及概念的理解程度有關(guān)。
個(gè)案的單詞拼寫錯(cuò)誤表明其不能有效利用語(yǔ)音編碼識(shí)記單詞,這與部分研究結(jié)論一致。個(gè)案單詞拼寫中常常出現(xiàn)的字母序列問(wèn)題,如增加、減少字母問(wèn)題,也反映了聾生單詞掌握水平較低,記憶表象模糊,不能準(zhǔn)確再現(xiàn),這與已有一線教師的研究描述相吻合。因而,在某種程度上,本研究選擇的個(gè)案,反映了大多數(shù)聾生,尤其是全聾學(xué)生單詞學(xué)習(xí)的普遍性問(wèn)題,具有一定的典型性和代表性。
2.2.2 目標(biāo)
通過(guò)單詞復(fù)習(xí)策略的干預(yù),提高個(gè)案的單詞默寫準(zhǔn)確率,鞏固已學(xué)過(guò)單詞,為其英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)打下堅(jiān)實(shí)的詞匯基礎(chǔ)。探索個(gè)案可能存在的非語(yǔ)音編碼問(wèn)題,包括如下問(wèn)題:是否存在非語(yǔ)音編碼?這種非語(yǔ)音編碼是什么?可利用程度和效果如何?
2.2.3 干預(yù)過(guò)程
研究者與個(gè)案英語(yǔ)授課教師經(jīng)過(guò)協(xié)商,決定在每周英語(yǔ)課課前對(duì)其進(jìn)行單詞復(fù)習(xí)策略的干預(yù),內(nèi)容為六年級(jí)上冊(cè)學(xué)過(guò)的100個(gè)單詞,每次持續(xù)時(shí)間為5~7分鐘。要求個(gè)案觀看一組研究者設(shè)計(jì)好的幻燈片課件,一邊看一邊按課件中的指導(dǎo)語(yǔ)完成習(xí)題。課件以預(yù)設(shè)好的速度自動(dòng)播放,播放結(jié)束后,收集該生的答題紙以了解干預(yù)過(guò)程中個(gè)案的成績(jī)情況。為控制無(wú)關(guān)變量的影響,要求該生不需自行復(fù)習(xí)上學(xué)期已經(jīng)學(xué)過(guò)的單詞,在課堂教學(xué)中也不再額外復(fù)習(xí)。
經(jīng)過(guò)5周10次課,十組幻燈片課件的復(fù)習(xí)干預(yù)全部完成。為了測(cè)查是否取得了預(yù)期效果,四周后,研究者同樣以“識(shí)別、默寫”兩種水平的試卷,分兩次對(duì)個(gè)案進(jìn)行了復(fù)測(cè),并對(duì)成績(jī)加以記錄和分析,進(jìn)而探討干預(yù)策略的有效性。
2.2.4 干預(yù)內(nèi)容及策略
干預(yù)所使用的材料為研究者自行設(shè)計(jì)的十組幻燈片課件,每組課件的內(nèi)容與教材對(duì)應(yīng)單元的學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容一致。如第一組課件與教材第一單元“animals”的8個(gè)單詞對(duì)應(yīng)一致,依此類推。干預(yù)策略的實(shí)施步驟共分六個(gè)環(huán)節(jié),分別是:①?gòu)?fù)習(xí)(喚醒記憶)、②識(shí)別(排除干擾)、③再現(xiàn)(鞏固)、④補(bǔ)全字母(提供變式,增加難度)、⑤再現(xiàn)(鞏固)、⑥默寫(目標(biāo)行為)。隨機(jī)選取每個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)的幻燈片幻燈片一張,組合起來(lái)可以了解干預(yù)策略的全過(guò)程(示意圖如下)。環(huán)節(jié)①:個(gè)案一邊觀看一邊回憶,以喚醒頭腦中的已有記憶。環(huán)節(jié)②:學(xué)生在短時(shí)記憶的幫助下,容易做出正確選擇,進(jìn)而掌握字義。環(huán)節(jié)③:給學(xué)生及時(shí)自我評(píng)價(jià)的機(jī)會(huì),讓學(xué)生體驗(yàn)到成就感。環(huán)節(jié)④:提供了較高難度的練習(xí)變式,該環(huán)節(jié)是根據(jù)學(xué)生默寫中常常遺漏字母的錯(cuò)誤以及單詞字母組合規(guī)律來(lái)設(shè)計(jì)的,以幫助學(xué)生克服困難,掌握規(guī)律。環(huán)節(jié)⑤:再次呈現(xiàn)正確答案,加深鞏固,并且不再呈現(xiàn)直觀圖片,目的是讓學(xué)生深入理解并建立中英文抽象文字符合間的對(duì)應(yīng)關(guān)系。環(huán)節(jié)⑥:是學(xué)生要掌握的目標(biāo)行為,經(jīng)過(guò)前五個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)的反復(fù)練習(xí)和鞏固,由短時(shí)記憶向長(zhǎng)時(shí)記憶轉(zhuǎn)化,學(xué)生默寫單詞的正確率大大提高。
值得特別說(shuō)明的是,在①、④、⑤環(huán)節(jié)中,研究者經(jīng)反復(fù)嘗試,在自定義動(dòng)畫中將單詞的呈現(xiàn)方式設(shè)定為“揮舞”,即組成單詞的每個(gè)字母可依次自上而下跳動(dòng)呈現(xiàn)。這種呈現(xiàn)方式既利用了聾生的注意規(guī)律,學(xué)生易于在靜態(tài)背景中捕捉到動(dòng)態(tài)的信息內(nèi)容,又能使學(xué)生清楚感知到單詞字母的序列性,以克服默寫中常常出現(xiàn)的字母前后順序顛倒的問(wèn)題。學(xué)生能按字母跳動(dòng)出現(xiàn)的順序打出手指語(yǔ),學(xué)生用手指語(yǔ)書寫單詞的行為與視覺(jué)感知字母動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)的心理過(guò)程同時(shí)發(fā)生,兩種行為緊密聯(lián)系在一起。
干預(yù)設(shè)計(jì)的另一個(gè)特點(diǎn)是直觀形象的圖片信息與抽象文字緊密結(jié)合,能夠幫助學(xué)生建立對(duì)抽象語(yǔ)言符號(hào)的意義理解和記憶線索。
此外,干預(yù)活動(dòng)過(guò)程中發(fā)揮了指導(dǎo)語(yǔ)對(duì)個(gè)案行為的指導(dǎo)作用。六個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)不同活動(dòng)內(nèi)容轉(zhuǎn)換時(shí)幻燈片會(huì)自動(dòng)呈現(xiàn)簡(jiǎn)短指導(dǎo)語(yǔ),如“我們復(fù)習(xí)一組animals的單詞,看看你還記得嗎”;再如“休息一下,看看你都選對(duì)了嗎”等等。這樣,學(xué)生能夠清楚知道接下來(lái)要做什么,是需要高度集中注意力,是做題,還是自我確認(rèn)答案等等。
最后,干預(yù)設(shè)計(jì)保證了學(xué)生的主體地位。干預(yù)過(guò)程中,個(gè)案一直處于主動(dòng)積極的學(xué)習(xí)狀態(tài)。松弛有度,“小步子、多循環(huán)”的設(shè)計(jì)給學(xué)生提供了充分練習(xí)和自我評(píng)價(jià)的機(jī)會(huì),學(xué)生體驗(yàn)到了“跳一跳,能夠摘到蘋果”的樂(lè)趣。
3 結(jié)果與分析
3.1 個(gè)案的成績(jī)水平
經(jīng)過(guò)干預(yù),個(gè)案單詞學(xué)習(xí)的兩種水平,尤其是默寫水平取得了明顯進(jìn)步。這表明復(fù)習(xí)策略對(duì)提升個(gè)案的成績(jī)水平具有積極意義。個(gè)案的單詞識(shí)別水平由97分提高到100分,默寫水平由68分提高到95分,這說(shuō)明個(gè)案在較難的單詞默寫環(huán)節(jié)取得了明顯進(jìn)步,達(dá)成了本研究的目標(biāo)之一?;仡櫢深A(yù)過(guò)程,個(gè)案在總計(jì)70分鐘的干預(yù)過(guò)程中,默寫成績(jī)提高了27分,說(shuō)明干預(yù)具有針對(duì)性,成效顯著。
3.2 個(gè)案在干預(yù)過(guò)程中的表現(xiàn)
干預(yù)過(guò)程中的觀察及錄像資料分析表明,個(gè)案在觀看幻燈片課件的過(guò)程中,易于被圖文并茂的幻燈片所吸引,表現(xiàn)出濃厚的學(xué)習(xí)興趣,眼神專注,會(huì)不由自主伴隨字母動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)的次序打出手指語(yǔ),在“②識(shí)別一排除干擾”、“④補(bǔ)全字母一提供變式”兩個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)的練習(xí)中,積極主動(dòng),在③和⑤“再現(xiàn)一鞏固”環(huán)節(jié)呈現(xiàn)正確答案時(shí),會(huì)迫不及待搶先用手指語(yǔ)打出答案,成就感溢于言表。經(jīng)過(guò)前面五個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)的反復(fù)練習(xí)和強(qiáng)化,在最后“⑥默寫單詞環(huán)節(jié)”,教學(xué)目標(biāo)的達(dá)成水到渠成(見(jiàn)圖2)。本研究設(shè)計(jì)的干預(yù)策略,有效避免了以往單純依靠機(jī)械記憶帶來(lái)的枯燥感和挫折感,利用注意規(guī)律和認(rèn)知特點(diǎn)抓住學(xué)生的注意力,提供了準(zhǔn)確清晰的語(yǔ)言編碼和表象編碼,循序漸進(jìn),反復(fù)練習(xí)幫助學(xué)生把短時(shí)記憶轉(zhuǎn)化為長(zhǎng)時(shí)記憶,進(jìn)而讓學(xué)生體驗(yàn)了到學(xué)習(xí)的樂(lè)趣,維護(hù)了學(xué)生的自信心。
3.3 來(lái)自教師的反饋
教師對(duì)干預(yù)結(jié)果非常滿意,沒(méi)想到個(gè)案會(huì)取得這么大的進(jìn)步,并對(duì)單詞動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)的設(shè)計(jì)非常感興趣。這種方式可能有助于失去語(yǔ)音編碼的全聾學(xué)生建立清楚深刻的視覺(jué)表象編碼,進(jìn)而與字詞形式的語(yǔ)言編碼和手指語(yǔ)編碼等相結(jié)合,經(jīng)過(guò)反復(fù)練習(xí),這種綜合的語(yǔ)言編碼形式得以鞏固。這個(gè)特點(diǎn)體現(xiàn)了本研究策略干預(yù)的創(chuàng)新之處,既綜合了以往研究中所強(qiáng)調(diào)的一般性策略,如“游戲法”“直觀法”,滲透構(gòu)詞規(guī)律,培養(yǎng)興趣等等,又突出了全聾學(xué)生的認(rèn)知特點(diǎn),符合學(xué)習(xí)規(guī)律、記憶規(guī)律,因而個(gè)案干預(yù)成效明顯。
4 討論
4.1 單詞字母動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)對(duì)全聾學(xué)生建立非語(yǔ)音編碼的探索
已有研究表明,全聾學(xué)生很難利用語(yǔ)音編碼來(lái)識(shí)記單詞。個(gè)案聽(tīng)力損失程度為一級(jí),全聾,分析其單詞默寫的錯(cuò)誤,如把單詞“shirt”“shirt”“iacket”“sweater”分別默寫為“skir”“shki”“iaes”“swenates”,從中可以看出,其默寫錯(cuò)誤的類型與聽(tīng)力正常學(xué)生有明顯區(qū)別,顯示出不能借助語(yǔ)音編碼來(lái)識(shí)記單詞的特征。那么要學(xué)習(xí)富有語(yǔ)音表征特點(diǎn)的英語(yǔ)詞匯,全聾學(xué)生該借助哪種或哪幾種語(yǔ)言編碼形式來(lái)幫助其識(shí)記呢?或者如何發(fā)展形成聾生自己擅長(zhǎng)的語(yǔ)言編碼策略呢?類似探索對(duì)聾生英語(yǔ)教學(xué)無(wú)疑具有指導(dǎo)價(jià)值。本研究表明,全聾學(xué)生借助視覺(jué)表象編碼,尤其是動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)的字母,輔以手指語(yǔ)編碼的一一對(duì)應(yīng),能幫助其有效掌握詞匯。但是,聾生視覺(jué)捕捉動(dòng)態(tài)序列呈現(xiàn)的字母時(shí),如何與伴隨的手指語(yǔ)書寫動(dòng)作建立內(nèi)在的聯(lián)系?大腦在這一過(guò)程中的反應(yīng)機(jī)制如何?并且這種聯(lián)系是否是全聾學(xué)生識(shí)記單詞的最有效策略?以上問(wèn)題受限于研究方法的局限性,缺乏技術(shù)手段的有效監(jiān)測(cè)等,還不能做出準(zhǔn)確回答。但是,對(duì)這些問(wèn)題的思考和深入探索,兼具理論價(jià)值和應(yīng)用價(jià)值,值得引起廣大學(xué)者的關(guān)注。
4.2 研究的局限性
本研究設(shè)計(jì)的復(fù)習(xí)策略,易于為一線教師借用和掌握,具有靈活的應(yīng)用價(jià)值。70分鐘的干預(yù)總時(shí)長(zhǎng),學(xué)生單詞默寫成績(jī)由68分提高至95分,經(jīng)驗(yàn)表明,這是令人滿意的結(jié)果。未來(lái)研究中,如能設(shè)計(jì)對(duì)照組,延長(zhǎng)研究周期,擴(kuò)大研究取樣,取得更多數(shù)據(jù),則有助于證實(shí)干預(yù)策略的有效性、針對(duì)性和適應(yīng)性。
