Goodmorning.Electiondayisaroundthecorner,andoneofthebiggestissuesatstakeinthiscampaignisyourtaxes.Hereismyphilosophy:IbelievethatoureconomygrowsandtheAmericanDreamreachesmorecitizenswhenyoukeepmoreofwhatyouearn.Withmoremoneyinyourpocket,itiseasierforfamiliestoaffordagoodeducation,itiseasierforyoungpeopletoaffordthedownpaymentonahomeoftheirown,andit''''seasierforsmallbusinessownerstogooutandinvestandcreatejobs.

SomyadministrationandtheRepublicanCongressenactedthelargesttaxreliefsinceRonaldReaganwasintheWhiteHouse.WecuttaxesforeveryAmericanwhopaysincometaxes.Wedoubledthechildtaxcredit.Wereducedthemarriagepenalty.Wecuttaxesonsmallbusiness.Wecuttaxesoncapitalgainsanddividendstopromoteinvestmentandjobs.Andtorewardfamilybusinessesandfarmersforalifetimeofhardworkandsavings,weputthedeathtaxonthepathtoextinction.

Nowtheresultsofthesetaxcutsarein.ThetaxcutswepassedhaveleftmorethanatrilliondollarsinthehandsofAmericanworkers,families,andsmallbusinesses,andyouhaveusedthatmoneytofuelastrongandgrowingeconomy.Lastyear,oureconomygrewfasterthananyothermajorindustrializednation.Thisweek,welearnedthatoureconomygrewby1.6percentduringthethirdquarterofthisyear.Asweexpected,thisrateisslowerthaninpreviousquarters.Yettheevidencestillpointstoavibranteconomythatisprovidingmorejobsandbetterwagesforourworkersandhelpingreducethefederaldeficit.

SinceAugust2003,theAmericaneconomyhascreatedmorethan6.6millionnewjobs,includingover1.7millionjobsinthepast12monthsalone.Realtake-homewagesareupby2.2percentoverthepastyear,whichmeansanextra$1,300forthetypicalfamilyoffourwithtwowageearners.Andtheeco公務(wù)員之家版權(quán)所有nomicgrowthspurredbytaxcutshashelpedreducethedeficit.Taxrevenueshavesoaredastheeconomyhasgrown,allowingustomeetourgoalofcuttingthefederaldeficitinhalf--threeyearsaheadofschedule.

Allthesesignspointtooneconclusion:Cuttingyourtaxesworked.Unfortunately,theDemocratsarestilldeterminedtoraiseyourtaxes,andiftheygaincontroloftheCongress,theycandosowithoutliftingafinger.Undercurrentlaw,manyofthetaxcutswepassedhavetoberenewedbyCongressortheywillexpire.Inotherwords,ifCongressfailstoact,yourtaxeswillautomaticallygoup.IfDemocratstakecontroloftheHouse,thecommitteeinchargeofalltaxlegislationwouldbechairedbyaDemocratwhorecentlysaidhe"cannotthinkofone"ofourtaxcutsthathewouldextend.Andifthere''''snolegislationtorenewandextendthetaxcuts,everytaxratewillgobackuptoitsold,higherlevel.

Takejustoneexample:IfDemocratshavetheirway,thechildtaxcreditwillbecutinhalf--from$1,000perchildtojust$500perchild.Andthinkofwhatthatmeansforyourfamily.Nexttimeyou''''rehavingdinnerathome,lookaroundthetableandmultiplythenumberofchildrenyouhaveby$500.That''''showmuchmoreyouwillbesendingtoWashingtonintaxesifDemocratstakecontroloftheCongress.Ifyouhavetwochildren,thatisanextra$1,000theDemocratswilladdtoyourtaxbilleveryyear.Ifyouhavethreechildren,that''''sanextra$1,500.Ifyouhavefourchildren,that''''sanextra$2,000.ThatmaynotseemlikealottoDemocratsinWashington,butforworkingfamiliesacrossAmerica,thatisrealmoney.
