Drevnyaya Rus-voprosy Medievistiki is a study of ancient Russian medicine during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, focusing on the practice and theory of medicine during this period. Ancient Russian medicine in the Middle Ages was heavily influenced by Byzantine medicine, while incorporating local medical practices. The book details how ancient Russian physicians used herbs, minerals and other natural remedies to treat diseases. These physicians not only studied the symptoms of the disease, but also focused on prevention and health maintenance.
During the Renaissance, ancient Russian medicine underwent important developments and transformations. The medicine of this period not only inherited the traditions of the Middle Ages, but also absorbed the medical knowledge and practice of Western Europe. This exchange led to innovations in treatment methods and theories in ancient Russian medicine. The book also discusses the translation and dissemination of medical literature at that time and its influence on later medicine.
